This hotel is superb. A funky yet intimate hotel with views of the Tyne bridges and the Baltic. The service is great and the coctails are deliciously wicked. Make sure your room looks out onto the river.

Very pleasant hotel in a great location.Construction works at the back of the hotel did not disturb us at all, although they might disturb some. Would definitely stay there again if possible.

The hotel itself is absolutely gorgeous, great big beds and a lovely location next to the millenium bridge. However, be warned that breakfasts are not included in the price and at 12.50 pp they are not very cheap. Also if you are planning on dining book early we left it til late and couldn't get in til after 9.30!

Malmaison claims to be unique -- and there's no doubt about it. In some areas it tries too hard to be a little off-the-wall while in others it has the ambiance of what (I would imagine) is that of a high class knocking shop. Interior a bit shabby in places and needs a little more attention. Staff were brilliant particularly on reception and the young woman in the attached coffee shop was delightful. It helps, of course, being in and from Newcastle, the friendliest city in the northern hemosphere. Setting unbeatable and despite the odd reservation, would stay again.

I recently stayed at the Malmaison hotel with my boyfriend for a special romantic treat for his birthday. After reading some of the reviews, I was a bit nervous about the state of the rooms. The Malmaison however, is an amazing hotel, and all those who have found fault with it, must be the kind of people who are nevera happy. The room was huge and beautiful, the staff were friendly, and the location is brilliant. I really couldn't have asked for more.

The hotel was excellent, unfortunately we got a room at the back of the hotel which was rather noisy when the bins and bottle bank were emptied at 5am in the morning. I'd stay there again but would ask for a room at the front of the hotel next time !

The Hotel itself was nice - big, smart, clean room. We did encounter one slight hiccup - they offer a service whereby you can order fresh milk for the morning at a specific time. We ordered it so we could make a cup of tea at 10am. It didn't arrive so I rang reception who said they would get onto it "straight away". We didn't check out until 2 hours later, by which time no milk had turned up. If a Hotel is going to offer a service (and is a top class expensive hotel!) you expect them to follow through.

It was simple, easy, and all sorted in minutes. Within half an hour I was at the hotel, and they had all the booking forms ready.
