Queen's Theatre, 51 Shaftesbury Avenue, London, W1D 6BA

Les Miserables

Cameron Mackintosh's legendary production of Boublil and Schönberg's Les Misérables, is indisputably the world's most popular musical.

This international award-winning show sweeps its audience through a grand tale of passion and destruction, against the backdrop of a nation in the grip of revolution.

Now in its 19th record-breaking year in London, this spectacular adaptation of Victor Hugo's masterpiece continues to thrill audiences night after night.

Cast includes:
Gary Watson (Marius), Edward Baruwa (Enjolras), Melanie La Barrie (Madame Thénardier), Cassandra Compton (Eponine), Claire-Marie Hall (Cosette), John Owen-Jones (Jean Valjean), Hans Peter Janssens (Javert), Joanna Ampil (Fantine) and Chris Vincent (Thénardier).

Gary Watson has recently been in the Adelphi Theatre production of Evita, Edward Baruwa has recently been in Porgy & Bess at the Savoy Theatre and Dancing in the Streets and Jerry Springer the Oper, Melanie La Barrie was the original 'Mrs Corry' in Mary Poppins and 'Pearl' in Daddy Cool, Cassandra Compton's London stage credits include Whistle Down the Wind at the Aldwych and was runner-up in the X-Factor in 2004 and Claire-Marie Hall is making her West End debut.

Critics' choice

The move of Les Miserables to the Queen's is as remarkable as Nasa's Mars landing. Rest assured its quality remains intact. The principal cast is further proof of the depth of our theatre's talent. A gripping story. As usual the show affected me with a sense of wonder.

The Times - April 2004

The production still feels amazingly fresh and full-blooded. It would require a cold heart indeed to remain in your seat during the rapturous standing ovation.

The Telegraph - April 2004

As a Les Miserables virgin it is great to see what people feel so passionately about. A fantastic show.

BBC London - Amy Lamé

Staff Pick

Les Miz has all the entertainment you can handle from spine tingling revolutionary anthems to heart wrenching love songs, all woven into the visionary and timeless plot of Victor Hugo's great humanitarian novel.

It's been seen by over 50 million people the world over. It's been going since 1985 in the UK. It's won more top awards than can be listed here. It's made more money and broken more records than any other show in the West End (and abroad). In short it's a giant... Probably the world's most popular musical! If you haven't seen it yet then where have you been for the past 20 years? If you've seen it already then go again, you won't be the first.
