Monkey Journey To The West

The O2 Arena, Millennium Way, London, SE10 0BB Based on the pilgrimage of the monk Tripitaka's to India, to collect some Buddhist scriptures, focusing on the monks first disciple the Monkey King; Monkey: Journey to the West is a theatrical collaboration between Damon Albarn (music), Jamie Hewlett of Gorillaz fame (designs, costumes) and Chinese opera. The Monkey King captures the imagination with his bold, mischievous and daring personality as we watch him and his companions, Tripitaka, Pigsy, Sandy and the Dragon Prince travel to India encountering many characters, demons and adventures along the way. Performed in Mandarin with English surtitles a cast of singers, acrobats and martial arts performers bring the fables and tales of the Monkey King to life. Following successful runs in Manchester and Paris in 2007, the show returned to London for a limited run in July 2008 to rave reviews.

  The Jubilee line is the only London Underground route that connects with all others - so national rail passengers from north, south, east or west can transfer easily to The O2's North Greenwich station, in zone 2
• By Docklands Light Railway (DLR)
  The Docklands Light Railway (DLR) also provides close connections at Canary Wharf, Cutty Sark and Greenwich
• By road
  London's orbital motorway, the M25, offers easy access by road. The O2 will have 2,000 parking spaces. On event nights parking will only be pre-booked only. The car park opens in July 2007
• By walk
  The O2 is an interesting walk from historic Greenwich, while various cycle routes lead up the peninsular to The O2 where there are cycle racks available
• By boat
  Enjoy one of the world's great rivers, and travel to The O2 by hi-speed boat. Provided by Thames Clippers, services will start when The O2 opens in July
