Champneys resort in Tring enjoys a rich history as the UK's first health farm. Tring was opened in 1925 by the naturopath Stanley Lief. Champneys Tring pioneered the concept of holistic health, treating the whole person: mind, body and soul. The Rothschild Mansion is set in 170 acres of parklands and retains its period mansion style with a classical music room, a light and airy morning room, drawing room and a games room with a snooker table, chess and board games. The emphasis at Tring is on weight loss and lifestyle change, but you can still indulge in luxurious spa therapies. The fab new thalassotherapy area kept us happy for hours. What happens on the break?

• Arrive any time from 14:00 on your chosen date.
• You will have a choice of up to 20 wellbeing & fitness activities, both indoors and outdoors including:
  • Aerobics
  • Aqua
  • Spinning
  • Pilates
  • Yoga
• You will have full use of the facilities including:
  • Indoor swimming pool
  • Whirlpool
  • Sauna/laconium
  • Steam room
  • Computerised gymnasium
  • Studios for exercise and relaxation classes
  • Tennis courts
  • Bicycles
• All meals are included:
  • A three course evening meal
  • A buffet breakfast the following morning
  • A hot or cold luncheon on the day of departure
• One night's accommodation in standard twin room
• Departure by 16:00 the following day

Spa break details

• Tring health farm is near Tring, in Hertfordshire
• Arrival is on Sunday to Wednesday only
• Your arrival time at the resort is 14.00 on the day and departure is by 16.00 the next day. Please be aware you will need to vacate you room by 10.30
• You will receive booking confirmation details from the supplier by post. The supplier's contact details will be included in your order confirmation email

Essential information

• Robes can be hired at the resort (a deposit is required)
• Slippers should be worn within the resort. They are available for purchase from the boutiques or you may bring your own
• Please bring swimwear for the spa areas
• The gymnasium and classes require exercise wear and trainers, preferably two pairs - one for indoor and one for outdoor activities
• For country hikes, walking shoes are suggested
• Only paying guests will be allowed within the resort
• Champneys is covered by Public Liability Insurance
• There's no disabled access

You will not receive a voucher for this experience but your confirmation e-mail is your proof of booking and is all you need to attend your spa break
