The Tower Of London
Tower Of London, London, EC3N 4AB

The Funny Side... Of Covent GardenFounded by William the Conqueror in 1066 - 7 and enlarged and modified by successive sovereigns, today the Tower of London is one of the world's most famous and spectacular fortresses.

Discover its 900-year history as a royal palace and fortress, prison and place of execution, mint, arsenal, menagerie and jewel house. Only at the Tower can you marvel at the breathtaking Crown Jewels, stand on the execution site of queens and hear the myths and tales that make a visit to the Tower a day out worth every penny.

Torture at the Tower - Exhibits, for the first time, of a range of torture instruments, known to have been used in past centuries on unfortunate traitors.

Save the Crown Jewels - In 1671, Colonel Blood made the only attempt in history to steal the Crown Jewels, and this audacious event will be re-created this Easter. Take part in this tale of adventure, of a struggle, a prisoner and a hot pursuit.

At this time the Jewels, including the Crown of St Edward, Orb and Sceptre, were under the protection of Jewel Keeper Talbot Edwards and his family, and kept behind wooden bars at the Tower of London. Find out how the scheming Colonel Blood and his dastardly accomplices were planning to execute their daring heist.
