This new realisation of the classic pairing, tells of how passion and betrayal can transform the most ordinary of lives and drive individuals to heart-felt and yet extreme acts of revenge.

The production features exciting new writing by two of the UK's leading literary figures: TS Eliot Prize-winner Sean O'Brien who provides a new translation of Cavalleria rusticana and Oscar-nominated Lee Hall, writer of the massive-hit film and musical Billy Elliot, writes a compelling new version of Pagliacci.

ENO's Music Director Edward Gardner, whose previous Company successes include Carmen and the sell-out run of Aida, returns to conduct the immediately recognisable scores which include the stirring Easter Chorus, Intermezzo (Raging Bull, Godfather III) and the moving tenor aria Vesti la Giubba. This combined with an impressive cast featuring Peter Auty, Jane Dutton and Mary Plazas ensure a thrilling night at the opera.

Seat numbers

• At present, we are unable to tell you your seat numbers when booking tickets. However, seats are allocated by the theatre as soon as you book your tickets and will be the best available at the time of booking. All seats in a booking will, of course, be together in the theatre, but in the very unlikely event of this not being possible we will call you and give you the option of cancelling your booking.
