3*+ Ocakkoy - 7 or 14 nights Bed & Breakfast Ocakkoy Turkey
Location: Between Fethiye and Oludeniz
Fethiye
The harbour is the ideal place for a seafront promenade, bustling with fishing boats, gulets and international yachts, whilst the town exudes charm, with some excellent restaurants and a market where locals gather to sell their wares the perfect place to hunt for bargains, hone your bartering skills and stock up on holiday souvenirs.
As dusk falls, the many cafes, lively bars and shops situated in the maze of narrow streets and alleys come to life, overlooked by the floodlit tomb of Amyntas, which dates back from 350 BC, a Doric temple façade carved in the rock face.
The Fethiye region has many interesting places to visit including the fascinating ghost town of Kayaköy, long since abandoned, the stunning gorge of Saklikent, literally translated as hidden city and of course, the famous beach and blue lagoon of Ölüdeniz, just the other side of the hill, which is easily reached by dolmus.
Fethiye is a good starting point from which to explore the surrounding coast by traditional gulet and has become very popular with those learning to scuba dive.
The nearest beach to Fethiye is Çalis Beach with its backdrop of dramatic mountains and stunning views across the wide blue bay to tiny islands and distant hills. It has grown into a delightful friendly resort with hotels, pensions, bars, restaurants and shops on the beach road, closed off to traffic during the summer months. Çalis is a 15 minute dolmus ride away along the coast or you can take a waterbus from the seafront.
Oludeniz
It is no wonder that Ölüdeniz is the most photographed place in Turkey. A picture postcard bay, clear turquoise seas with a tranquil lagoon, superb white sand and shingle beach, fringed by pine clad hills, all contributing to its natural beauty.
The perfect family resort for a laid-back beach holiday, Ölüdeniz is a popular resort with numerous lively bars, restaurants and shops alongside the seafront promenade but still retaining an individual charm. While away the pressure of life in this hazy sun-blessed resort while sunbathing, sipping on a long cool refreshing drink or enjoying one of the many watersports and activities available.
Away from its beautiful beaches, the countryside is a ramblers paradise. As with most of Turkey you will soon stumble upon a site of historic importance or meet a friendly local who will willingly pass the time with you over a cup of Turkish coffee. It is well worth visiting the extraordinary sight of Kayaköy, a short dolmus ride away, the so-called ghost village, nestling amongst the mountains - it was once the thriving village of Karmylassos with some 3000 buildings but is now deserted and left in ruins.
High above the bay are the villages of Hisarönü and Ovaçik. Just 4kms from Ölüdeniz, Hisarönü offers a lively nightlife and a great variety of shops, cosy cafes and a wider choice of restaurants, whilst nearby Ovaçik is slightly quieter and surrounded by beautiful mountain scenery, still with a choice of shops, bars and restaurants. There are frequent dolmus services available to both these villages and also to Fethiye, only 12kms from Ölüdeniz, an attractive harbour town with a colourful, bustling market to explore.
Thrill-seekers are sure to find one of the greatest possible adrenalin rushes. Experience the feeling of being on top of the world, take off from high in the Babadag Mountains at a height of 6,500 feet and glide down over the sea to the beach of Ölüdeniz. Without doubt the best way to appreciate Turkeys most famous view! Or have a go at white-water rafting from high in the hills on the Dalaman River.

The village of Kayaköy lies behind the hills and was deserted during a population exchange in 1923. The 3,000 deserted homes and churches have since fallen into disrepair and is now known as the ghost town. Reached by dolmus from Hisarönü, it is an excellent place to experience traditional village life and has some good restaurants, which cater mainly for locals and are very reasonably priced.

Tlos and Saklikent
Visit the ancient city of Tlos, with its theatre and health centre, similar to a modern day Turkish bath. There are stunning views from the spectacular castle set on the hilltop above. The stunning hidden city of Saklikent is Europes second longest gorge at 17kms, part of which can be walked. It is about 3 metres wide between rocks as high as 300 metres, with cold waters, which gush from an underground spring into a river running through the gorge giving you the opportunity to cool off.
Ephesus & Pamukkale 2 days
