Description

Venue: Musée Olympique    When: Daily

As the seat of the Olympic Committee, Lausanne is home to this high-tech museum celebrating sporting achievements through the ages. A multimedia affair with a wealth of rare and fascinating items on show (Carl Lewis' shoe from the 1984 Olympics, for instance), the museum also boasts a massive collection of historical footage.

Amateur historians can enjoy a blissful day viewing film of Hitler at the 1936 Olympics or Jesse Jackson's Black Power stance in Mexico, as well as footage of the events that prompted their behaviour.

With a fine location overlooking Lake Leman at Ouchy, why not combine your visit with lunch at a lakeside restaurant, sampling the local speciality of perch fillets from the lake.
