Impressive mountains surround the charming village of Saas-Fee in the canton of Valais, most notably the ‘Dom’ which is the highest mountain in Switzerland. The picturesque village has retained a typical chalet-style appearance and is completely traffic free, the only forms of transport being horse-drawn sleighs and carriages and small electric vehicles.

The resort offers superb skiing for all levels, spread over three large areas totalling around 50 miles of pistes. The Metro Alpin, the highest underground funicular in the world takes skiers right up to Mittelallalin and the world’s highest revolving restaurant at 3500m. From here there is a wonderful 6-mile run back to Saas-Fee. There are excellent lower slopes for beginners and all year round snowboarding or skiing is possible on the glacier.
