Arosa, one of Switzerland's highest ski resorts, nestles at the top of the delightful Schanfigg valley. It enjoys a splendid sun record combined with good snow, and given this, Arrosa is an excellent all-round winter resort. The resort's many wealthy tourists, friendly locals and real mountain ambience complete the full alpine experience. The après ski is enhanced by the resort ban on traffic in the village-centre which provides a good choice of restaurants and tearooms, supplying both relaxed and smart eating out, and a lively nightlife. Non-skiers are offered a range of activities, including tobogganing, bowling and hot air balloon rides.
The resort starts at the relatively high level of1800m, ensuring excellent snow cover on the 70km of pistes throughout the whole season. The skiing is ideal for both beginners and intermediates, with a good variety of runs across the two ski areas of Weisshorn and Hörnli; the top of the Hörnli also being the starting point for a variety of exciting ski-tours to neighbouring resorts. Boarders are catered for by wide, open pistes and a dramatic new half-pipe for extra thrills and spills.
