Opened in 1994, Geneva's Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (MAMCO) presents a vast collection of European and American art covering the last four decades.

The former factory's 1950s industrial architecture allows for a flexible and constantly changing museum arrangement. In a convivial and playful manner inspired by the spirit of Marcel Duchamp, MAMCO encourages people to reconsider their understanding of the notions of "contemporary art" and "museum". Three times a year the museum presents a new stage of its ongoing construction with temporary exhibitions and new presentations of its collection.

Thanks to its opening, the area surrounding the museum has become the hip and trendy art district of Geneva, with many young galleries settling there. Have a look around when visiting.
