Murren Holidays

Situated in the beautiful Jungfrau region, and reached by mountain railway or gondola, Mürren is one of the original European ski resorts. It was developed by the Brits between the wars, and remains a firm favourite today. It retains its original village charms, along with many old wooden chalets, and now benefits from traffic-free village streets. The après ski is low-key but friendly, and the pace picks up dramatically at weekends. There are enough local bars and cafes to suit everyone's needs and pockets. Non-skiing activities include winter sports such as skating, snow-shoeing and tobogganing.

Up on the mountains, there is a good range of skiing for all abilities. A selection of black runs, including the world famous Kandahar, along with some thrilling off-piste challenges keeps advanced skiers more than occupied. Aside from this, there is excellent skiing for intermediates and a great park for boarders. To experience more varied skiing and other pistes, you can ski over to the linked Lauterbrunnen Valley and the resorts of Wengen and Grindelwald. Just as important as all the skiing, and accounting for the resort's enduring appeal, are the far-reaching vistas to be had of Germany, France and Italy. These views are best enjoyed from the unique revolving restaurant, Piz Gloria, perched high up at an altitude of 2970m.
