Adelboden is a charming Bernese Oberland mountain village at the foot of the Wildstrubel massif. Its superb location on a sheltered terrace makes for a sunny local climate and splendid alpine views. The beautiful village itself is full of traditional wooden chalets and traffic-free streets, with the nearby historic spa village and resort of Lenk creating an ideal contrast for a daytrip away. By night, the village's main street comes alive with good-natured après ski in the many lively bars and restaurants. Non-skiers can partake in various activities including swimming, ice-skating and tobogganing.
The resort offers good and varied skiing for all standards, especially intermediates and above. The wealth of well-groomed pistes will tempt skiers to explore the area's combined 170-km ski area (including the resorts of Lenk and Geils), creating even greater challenges and more excitement on the snow, plus lift passes for more than four days include one day's free skiing in Gstaad for the more adventurous. The local ski school is superb, offering a full range of lessons provided by English-speaking instructors.
