  • Palau de la Música Catalana
    The ornate Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona was originally built for the Orfeo (Catalan Choir) in 1908, and designed by Catalan modernist architect Domenech i Montaner. There are guided tours around the building, but primarily the Palau is a venue for internationally renowned orchestral concert and recitals.

    Madrid's Museo del Prado houses a dazzling permanent collection of some 7000 paintings and is especially noted for its Flemish, Dutch, Spanish and Italian works. The gallery ranks as one of the top five in the world and is an absolute must-see.

    The Casa de América is a museum and cultural centre dedicated to the dissemination of knowledge about Latin American arts and history. It showcases work by well-known and lesser-known artists as well as hosting discussions and talks.

    Barcelona Aquarium, just a stone's throw inland from the Mediterranean in Port Vell, is considered one of the best in Europe, with an unprecedented collection of marine life.
