The Casa de América is a museum and cultural centre dedicated to the dissemination of knowledge about Latin American arts and history. It showcases work by well-known and lesser-known artists as well as hosting discussions and talks.

Inaugurated in 1992 as part of the celebrations of 500 years since the "discovery" of the "New World" by Cristobal Colón (Christopher Columbus) in 1492, the centre contains a museum, cinema, library and shop.

It showcases work by artists from the region, some of whom are well known. There is also a cinema which shows Latin American films every day, a video library and a general library on Latin America. There are concerts, readings of Latin American fiction, educational programmes and discussions.
