The Skylink moving walkway system links Terminals 1, 2 and 3 via the airport railway station.
The airport lies off junction 5 of the M56 motorway, which connects with the M60 (Manchester’s ring road) at junction 4. Directions for all terminals are clearly signposted.
There are some 14,000 parking spaces available at the airport. Short- and long-term parking facilities (tel: (0)161 489 3723) are available. The short-stay multi-storey parking lots are located close to Terminals 1, 2 and 3. Long-term parking is recommended for any stay over 6 hours. Pre-booking, with discounts offered, is available online. A regular courtesy shuttle bus operates from the long-term car parks to all terminals. Companies at the airport include Avis, Budget, Europcar, Hertz, National and Sixt. All have desks in each of the terminals.
Rail: Manchester Airport’s new rail, coach and bus interchange, known as The Station, is connected to all three terminals via the Skylink moving walkway system. Trains operate to Manchester Airport from many stations in northern England and the Midlands. There is a frequent service between the airport and Manchester Piccadilly Station in the city centre, which has connections to most major destinations. Road: Taxi: Taxis are available outside or near the Arrivals hall of each terminal. Bus: The airport’s bus network provides direct services to many local centres, as well as to other towns and cities. Coach: A number of National Express services (tel: (0)870 575 7747; website: www.nationalexpress.com) run from The Station to various destinations throughout the UK.
Tourist information centres are situated in the Arrivals areas of Terminals 1 and 2 (tel: (0)161 436 3344). There are also information desks situated in all terminals. Several members of staff are trained in British Sign Language.
Money and communications: ATMs, bureaux de change, banking facilities, Internet booths and a post office are available. Eating and drinking: All terminals have restaurants, cafés and bars with 24-hour facilities. Shopping: Duty-free shops and a variety of gift shops and concessions are available. Luggage: Left-luggage facilities and lost property offices are available (tel: (0)161 489 3463 for Terminal 1 or (0)161 489 6031 for Terminal 2). Other facilities: These include a medical centre, two prayer rooms, baby changing facilities and a 24-hour children’s play area.
The Airport Business Centre (tel: (0)161 490 5580) offers a wide range of professional business support services, including private workstations with telephone, fax, photocopying and word processing facilities, meeting room hire, Internet access and videoconferencing. The airport also has conference and banqueting facilities in the Atlantic Suite (tel: (0)161 489 6181/2) and Radisson SAS Hotel (tel: (0)161 490 5000), catering for up to 400 people and including a comprehensive range of audiovisual, telephone and fax equipment. The Escape Lounge (tel: (0)161 489 3388) offers passengers a chance to relax and use a variety of business facilities, including fax machines, telephones, Internet access and photocopying; there is a charge for entry to this lounge.
There are accessible toilets, ramps and lifts, hearing loops and wheelchair-accessible telephones throughout the terminals. All telephones are fitted with induction loops. The desk in Terminal 1 International Arrivals is equipped with a Minicom system (tel: (0)161 489 3561). Passengers requiring wheelchairs or special assistance should contact their airline prior to travel. There are parking spaces for disabled travellers (tel: (0)161 489 3723).
The four on-site hotels are Bewley’s Hotel Manchester Airport (tel: (0)161 498 0333), Crowne Plaza Manchester Airport (tel: (0)870 400 9055), Manchester Airport Hilton (tel: (0)161 435 3000) and Radisson SAS Hotel (tel: (0)161 490 5000). Hotel reservations can be made at the tourist information centres and at the First Options desk, located in the Terminal 1 Arrivals hall.

Shuttle service between El Prat de Llobregat and the airport: The RENFE Cercanías station is currently closed due to engineering work. Passengers who wish to travel to the airport should change at El Prat de Llobregat station on line 2. Stops on line 2 trains have increased to make travelling to Barcelona easier. Timetable: Departures from the airport, from 06:25 to 23:50; departures from the airport, from 5:59 to 23:05. There are trains-shuttle between the airport and El Prat every 20 minutes, from where passengers can take Line 2 of the suburban train. For further information telephone 902 240 202.
Passengers can walk through a walkway, which connects the three terminals.
From Barcelona city centre, take the Barcelona ring road, with the airport exit via the Pata Sur. The airport access road is the Barcelona-Castelldefels C-31 motorway, which connects with the Barcelona-Stiges C-32 motorway.
There are public car parks at the airport with space for nearly 13,000 cars. Car parks are located directly in front of each terminal. Terminal A and C are directly connected to the car parks via air-bridges. VIP parking in a secure car park, with collection outside each of the terminals, is also available (tel: 932 971 381).
Avis, National Atesa, Europcar and Hertz are all represented at the airport, with offices located on the ground floor of Terminals B and C.
Rail: There are train services from the airport to the city centre, on the RENFE Mataró line. All trains stop at Sants-Estaçio, Plaça Catalunya, Arc de Triomf and Clot-Aragó, all of which connect with the metro. The RENFE Cercanías station is connected to the passenger terminal via a travelator, which is situated in front of the terminal building between Terminals A and B. Road: Taxi: Taxi ranks are located outside the terminals (journey time to Barcelona: 25 minutes). Bus: There is an Aerobus (A1) service to Plaça de Catalunya, departing from in front of all terminals. Bus no.105 departs from Terminals B and C, to El Prat; bus no.106 also departs from Terminals B and C.
Tourist information desks (tel: (0)934 784 704 or 780 565) are located in Terminals A and B; there is also a hotel information point in Terminal B. Airport information desks can be found throughout the airport, at six locations in Terminals A and B.
Money and communications: Banks, bureaux de change and ATMs can be found in Terminals A and B. There is also a post office on the ground floor of Terminal B. Eating and drinking: There are restaurants, cafeterias and bars in all terminals. Shopping: Duty-free shopping is available in Terminals A and B; there are also a range of other shops in these two terminals. These include a jewellers, bookshop, tobacconists, newsagents, music shop and shoe shop. Luggage: A left-luggage office is situated in the Terminal B Arrivals area. A lost property office is situated in the Bloque Técnico building (tel: 932 983 349). Other facilities: There is a pharmacy, a 24-hour medical service, tour operators and travel agents, and children’s play areas.
Terminal B has a dedicated meeting room, the Sala Europa, which can be hired (tel: (0)932 983 815). Facilities include telephone, fax, Internet and audiovisual equipment. During 2004, two similar facilities will open on the first floor of Terminal B. VIP lounges are available in Departures (after security) in all three terminals.
The airport has lifts, escalators and ramps. Reserved parking spaces are also available for disabled travellers in the airport car park. Disabled toilets are located throughout the airport and there are also adapted-telephones at wheelchair height in each terminal.
There are no hotels on site. The nearest hotels to the airport are Hotel Ciutat del Prat (tel: 933 788 333), Hotel Tryp Barcelona Airport (tel: 933 781 000) and the Best Western Hotel Alfa Airport (tel: 933 362 564). Hotels can be booked at the hotel information desk in Terminal B.
