The Canaries are located in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Morocco and typically offer everything from mass tourism to tiny fishing villages, whitewashed hamlets perched on hilltops and even a few wild places within the dull roar of a volcano. Puerto Del Carmen itself has blossomed into Lanzarotes liveliest resort. The long sandy beach is fringed with clean, clear waters and a beachside walkway leads to two further beaches. Life is very different on the other side of town at the old fishing harbour where locals play boules and an assortment of good Canarian restaurants are available. The promenade is the place to find Puerto Del Carmens numerous caf bars, gift shops and restaurants, and at night you can dance and enjoy yourself with the many late-night music bars and discos.
