4* Papagayo Arena - 7 nights – All - Inclusive

The Papagayo Arena is on the seafront between Playa Blanca and the famous Papagayo beaches. It has views of the islands of Los Lobos and Fuerteventura. Thanks to the all-inclusive option the hotel offers a wealth of amenities for which you do not pay once you have settled in. There’s a choice of bars, an international buffet with show cooking, pizzeria, pool snack grill and Oriental restaurant (reservations). The coast here has lovely beaches, especially Papagayo under half a mile away, but the hotel’s pool area is very good and has lots of sunbeds. You can choose to pay for extras such as a massage, rent a bike, or treat yourself to dinner in the French à la carte restaurant. A paved path leads to the new marina, with its shops and small market two mornings a week, and you can walk to Playa Blanca in about 30 minutes. A courtesy bus makes the trip four times a day and taxis are inexpensive.

Driving Directions

The airport is clearly signposted. From the capital, Arrecife, take the Autovia Arrecife-Yaiza (LZ-2) and follow signs for the airport.

Car Parking

There are 1,120 car parking spaces available at the airport; the first 30 minutes are free, after which the charge is calculated on an hourly basis.

Car Hire

Autos Reisen, Avis, Betacar, Cabrera Medina, Cicar, Felycar, Hertz and Payless are represented in the Arrivals hall. When the new terminal is completed, car hire companies will also be located in the baggage reclaim area and in the Arrivals hall.

Public Transport

Road: Taxi: Taxis are available at the airport and depart from taxi ranks next to Arrivals. Bus: Buses operate to/from Arrecife-Playa Honda bus station on bus no.4. The bus station is situated next to Arrivals.

Information and Help Desks

There is an airport information desk (tel: 928 846 001) on the Departures floor. Tourist information is provided by the Lanzarote Island Council office in the Arrivals hall (tel: 928 846 073). Information desks will also be available in the new terminal on the public concourse.

Airport Facilities

Money and communications: There are several ATMs located throughout the airport, and a bureau de change at the Travel 2000 office in Departures, on the second floor. Eating and drinking: Facilities include cafés, bars, restaurants, an ice cream parlour and fast-food outlets, many of which are located in Departures, after security. There is also a cafeteria in the Arrivals hall. Shopping: Shops are mostly located in Departures, after security. The new terminal, once completed, will also have extensive shopping facilities, both before and after security. Luggage: There are no left-luggage facilities at the airport. Lost property facilities are located on the Departures floor (tel: 928 846 001). Other facilities: There is a pharmacy on the public concourse, and first aid on the Arrivals level.

Conference and Business Facilities

A Guacimeta VIP Lounge (tel: 928 846 345) is equipped with business facilities, including telephones and Internet access. Fax and photocopying facilities are available at the lottery outlet, on the main concourse.

Disabled Facilities

Disabled facilities include ramps, a lift, accessible doors and toilets; there are also designated areas outside Departures and Arrivals where disabled passengers can be dropped-off or picked-up. Airlines can provide travellers with wheelchairs; passengers should request this service when booking their ticket. Designated car parking spaces are provided.

The Hotel Beatriz (tel: 928 591 777) and Sol Lanzarote (tel: 928 514 888), at Puerto del Carmen, are the nearest hotels to the airport. The Gran Meliá Salinas (tel: 928 590 040) and the Occidental Teguise Playa (tel: 928 590 654) are 15-20 minutes from the airport on the Costa Teguise. There are several other hotels nearby, including the Hotel Lancelot (tel: 928 805 099) in Arrecife and the Hotel Fariones (tel: 928 510 175) in Puerto del Carmen.
