  • Lobos Island
Located off the north end of Fuerteventura, Lobos Island is named after the colonies of monk seals, or sea wolves, that lived on the island until the 19th century. Separated from the main island by a 2km strait called El Rio, few people live on the island but it's popular with tourists and boasts a beautiful beach with crystalline waters and a couple of restaurants - good for a chilled day out.
  • Windsurfing in Fuerteventura
Fuerteventura was, and remains in the large part, one of the lesser-known destinations for the thousands of European holidaymakers that visit the Canary islands every year. For windsurfers the story is very different. The island's superb conditions have been recognised as among the best in the world since the 1980s.
  • Palmitos Park
Located in the surroundings of Barranco de Palmitos on the island of Gran Canaria, Palmitos Park has an aquarium and botanical garden complete with an orchid house - an oasis for birds, fish and butterflies.
  • Windmill Centre
At the Centro de Interpretación Los Molinos (Windmill Centre) in Tiscamanita you can see demonstrations of both hand and windmilling techniques for producing flour.
  • Crocodile Park
What began in 1988 as a sanctuary for a few stray crocodiles has now become the largest crocodile sanctuary in Europe and a full-blown zoological park into the bargain. Cocodrilo Park, in Villa de Aguimes, Gran Canaria has over 300 crocodiles, an aquarium containing tropical and Canarian fish, a spider house featuring the dreaded tarantulas and a parrot house.
