The village of Garajau is a residential area, situated about 6 miles to the east of Madeira's capital city Funchal. Approximately one kilometre from the Hotel Dom Pedro Garajau is Ponta do Garajau with a fine miradouro, this is a wonderful spot to watch the sun go down and have great views west to the bay of Funchal. The Garajau coastline is a conservation area and was one of Europe’s first underwater nature reserves, providing sanctuary for whales, dolphins and seals.

Although car hire is recommended, it is not essential as both taxis and a regular bus service are available.

Food and beverages

This holiday is based on bed and breakfast board. Half board basis is also available at an additional cost. The Dom Pedro Garajau Hotel has a “Tropical Restaurant” where guests can eat in a relaxed atmosphere and step out onto a dining terrace, which looks out over lush gardens. “Bar Caracalla” can be found by the indoor pool and it provides the perfect place to enjoy the sun during the day. This bar is equally as pleasant at night, when the venue is softly lit for entertainment. The pool bar is located next to the outdoor swimming pool in the hotel gardens and it provides light lunches, snacks and drinks throughout the day from 10am until 6pm in season.

Upgrade to half board: Upgrade from bed and breakfast to half board for £101.50 per adult, per week and £50.75 per child, per week. You will be given this option during the booking process. Please note there are additional supplements for half board for holidays departing on 22 and 29 December. The extra costs are £35.50 per adult and £17.75 per child for holidays departing on both these dates. Kindly note these additional supplements should be added to the total cost of your holiday as they will not be included in the board basis supplement shown in the price summary.
