The Radisson SAS Golden Sands Resort & Spa is situated on the edge of a cliff overlooking one of Maltas most beautiful sandy beaches, Golden Bay. The location commands one of the best sites on the Island of Malta with panoramic views over the bay below and beyond. At the same time it is only a short drive southwards to St. Pauls Bay and the town of Bugibba and a 10 minutes drive northwards to the ferryboat that connects to Gozo, Maltas sister Island. Distance from the airport is18 kms and distance from beach is 10m (there is a private sandy beach forming part of the hotel grounds).

The Radisson SAS Golden Sands Resort & Spa has 287 rooms consisting of 118 Zennith collection one bedroom suites, 73 Double Dream Collection two bedroom suites and a further 92 Deluxe Serene Collection twin rooms. In addition to this the property also incorporates four fantastic heavenly collection one bedroom suites and a further 2 presidential suites. Half of the rooms enjoy a fantastic view of Golden Bay, while the rest overlook the beautiful countryside of this Northern side of the Island. The rooms have all been designed to be extremely spacious and are tastefully furnished to a very high standard. Serene rooms measure 35 square metres, Zenith one-bedroom suites measure 70 square metres and Double Dream 2 bedroom suites measure 110 square metres. On leaving the airport, take the main road to Marsa, which leads to Valletta. The city centre and airport are both clearly signposted.
There are spaces for 650 cars in the car park, which is linked to the main terminal by a walkway. Car hire companies have a separate car park for the collection and return of hired vehicles.
Car hire companies are located in the Welcomers’ Hall and include Alamo, Avis, Budget, Europcar, Hertz, National, Sixt and Thrifty.
Road: Taxi: There is a fixed-fare taxi service to all areas of Malta. A taxi booth is located in the Welcomers’ Hall, where pre-paid tickets can be purchased. Bus: Bus no.8 departs regularly to/from Valletta and leaves from a bus stop outside the check-in hall.
Malta Tourist Information (tel: 2369 6073/4) is located in the Welcomers’ Hall and is open 24 hours a day. Additional information is available online (website: www.visitmalta.com). The Customer Services Centre (tel: 2124 9600) is located inside the check-in hall and is also open around the clock.
Money and communications: There are two banks and bureaux de change, as well as a post office and a telecommunications centre. Eating and drinking: There are numerous restaurants and cafeterias throughout the airport, including a drive thru. Shopping: There are several shops at the airport, including tax-free. Luggage: A left-luggage service is available. Other facilities: There is a chapel onsite.
There are three executive lounges at the airport: the Gerolamo Cassar executive lounge, located in Arrivals; the La Valette executive lounge, situated in the Departures lounge, immediately after security control; and the Ewropa Lounge (operated by Air Malta) in the Departures lounge. Internet access is available to lounge users.
The terminal has wheelchair-accessible toilets, ramps and low-level payphones. Reserved parking spaces are available in the car park. Wheelchairs are available on request from the Customer Services Centre (tel: 2124 9600).
There are no on-site hotels but the necessary information and bookings for all of Malta’s hotels can be obtained from the Tourist Information Office inside the Welcomers’ Hall. Hotels close to the airport include the Golden Tulip Vivaldi Hotel (tel: 2137 8100) and the Crowne Plaza (tel: 2134 3400), located 10km (6 miles) from the airport, and the Hilton Malta (tel: 2138 3383), 14km (9 miles) from the airport.
