Luxembourg Car rentals

The currency in Luxembourg is the Luxembourg Franc (LUF) which although distinct from the Belgian Franc has a similar exchange rate. If you're only in Luxembourg for the day you can use Belgian Francs instead of the local currency as it's widely accepted. Unfortunately, it doesn't work the other way around though - Luxembourg Francs are not recognised in Belgium so if you're leaving the country either exchange your currency before you go or just make sure you spend it all.

The home of Luxembourg's Grand Ducal family sits comfortably in the environs of the Old Town. You're as likely to come across it by mistake as by plan. From the outside there's little to indicate it's status as a royal residence although the guard on duty in his little box outside serves as some clue. At the top of a labyrinth of winding narrow grey cobbled streets and pale, tall narrow houses the road widens into a paved pedestrian area. The building on the left is impossibly clean - the stone a perfect shade of yellow ochre so that at first it doesn't catch your eye but then you notice the spires and the railings, the groups of camera wielding tourists and the sentry boxes and you slowly catch on.
