Chic Cortina is a beautifully located resort in the Ampezzo Valley, right at the very heart of the Dolomites. It is a true all-round winter-sports resort, enjoying a splendid setting and attractive buildings and streets. It lies in a sheltered bowl surrounded by the Dolomite mountain ranges. The resort is Italian through and through, with little evidence of influence from nearby Germany and Austria. The large, traffic-free resort has many grand old buildings, with more recent additions being in a sympathetic Italian Alpine style. The plentiful bars and cafes suit all tastes and pockets, along with some late-night venues for hardened revellers.

The skiing here is both varied and extensive, with remarkably little crowding or bottle-necks on the slopes. The snow is guaranteed by plentiful snow making, and this also ensures a comfortably long season. Skiers of all levels find fun and adventure on the well-groomed runs. Many in fact believe the skiing here to be as smart as the socialising, which is no feint praise indeed.
