Situated in the Giardino di Boboli, Florence's most illustrious park, the Porcelain Museum provides a gentle break and a welcome detour for any wanderer in the park.

The museum showcases collectables and trinkets from the history of several dynasties of powerful reigning Florentine families. The Medici, Lorena, Bourbon and Savoy clans have all contributed their little oddments and crockery to the display cases of the museum and the building is literally permeated by the presence of historical ancestors, like Napoleon Bonaparte, whose image in porcelain takes pride of place.

If you want a challenge, keep an eye out for the little sugar-bowl shaped like a turtle....
