Milan's high fashion is concentrated within the Quadrilatero d'Oro or Golden Quad, just east of the Piazza della Scala and bordered by the Via Montenapoleone, Via Sant' Andrea and Via della Spiga. This is where all the big designer names cluster, interspersed with design studios and contemporary art galleries.
Names to look out for on the Via Montenapoleone are Salvatore Ferragamo and Valentino, Cartier, Louis Vitton and Prada Uomo (on the corner of Montenapoleone and Via Bagutta). If you're after some chic new shoes, choose your favourite pair from Fratelli Rossetti, Fausto Santini or tailor-made Tanino Crisci. If it's a whole outfit you're after, pay a visit to the vast Gianni Versace Boutique, which displays its alluring merchandise over four floors.
The Via Sant' Andrea, extending at right angles from the Via Montenapoleone, offers a range of budget-bending delights from Dolce & Gabbana, Chanel and Moschino to Hermès, Prada, Kenzo and perennial favourite Armani.
The narrow Via della Spiga, running parallel to Via Montenapoleone, is a pedestrianised street that is truly a well-heeled shopper's paradise. Among the designer names, don't miss Bulgari jewellery, Prada and Bottega Veneta.
