Just a short ferry crossing from the coast of the Italian Neapolitan Riviera lies the beautiful island of Ischia. The island has a wonderful landscape of luxuriant forests and vineyards, there are hot springs and thermal spa complexes galore; plus an array of cafes and restaurants to choose from. Watersports including water-skiing and snorkelling are available from the various beaches around the island. Ischia town, in the northeast, is divided into Ischia ponte (the old town - originally a fishing village) and Ischia Porto (the new town and the departure point for ferries to the mainland).
