The historic area of Amalfi is one of the most popular resorts on the Italian coast. The main piazza is the first port of call for most tourists, where the decorative Duomo, or church, dominates. Narrow streets lined with charming houses run through the resort down to the seafront promenade, which has a row of bustling cafes. There are plenty of shops and restaurants to choose from plus a narrow sandy beach for a spot of sunbathing.
