The staff were friendly and courteous. The room was clean and large. There were problems with the telephone that did not get resolved.

Hotel was fantastic value for the amount that we paid, & on the second night we had an issue with noise but they very kindly moved us to another room. Some of the furnishings were quite tired, but the hotel was clean and location was brilliant.

We enjoyed our stay here very much. Staff were friendly and interested in us, even though there were many other people staying there at that time. It was a hotel full of character and individual charm, unlike the chain variety, and we were delighted that it even had a mention in the famous novel Ullyses by James Joyce! My husband is a great fan of this particular Irish writer!

The area the hotel is situated in is not very nice and we did not want to be walking around the area late at night. The outside of the hotel is very unkempt and left us worrying about what we had booked ourselves into. The staff on reception were pleasant and helpful and the waiting staff in the restaurant were efficient although the menu was very dated and the food not up to a very high standard. The room was clean and comfortable.

The location of the hotel was perfect, the room we were located in was comfortable, but the noise from the lift shaft was unbearable, we complained at reception and were told the duty manager would be with us very shortly, 1 and 1/2 hours later there was no sign, we went to reception again and the receptionist was shocked he hadn't been to us. Eventually he came to our room, he was not very pleasant and was not at all happy about re-locating us, the room we were re-located to was very smoky from the previous occupants and we had to leave the window open all night, despite it being bitterly cold and snowing.

This place sucks. Hardly acknowledged by staff at any time, noisy throughout the night, rank food and bar full of local drunks. Almost ruined my entire trip.

We stayed at the North Star Hotel in Dublin for a very cold and wet long weekend in February. The hotel was clean and the rooms we stayed in were of a reasonable size. Although very close to the rail station we didn't hear any noise. This hotel is only suitable if you are capable of walking as it is slightly away from the main tourist area, however this is also a plus if you don't want noise late at night. Our package was room only and although you could purchase breakfast at the hotel we chose to eat out. We would happily stay there again

Great Hotel in a great location, just a few minutes walk from the bars and restaurants. Just around the corner from the bus station and a bus stop right outside the hotel to the airport costing 8euros so need for expensive taxis. The hotel bar is used by locals all of which are very friendly.

The railway line runs over the top of the hotel, though it wasn't particularly noisy at nights. The bus stop to the airport is right outside the hotel.

Your description of it being incredible was correct , but for the wrong reasons. My wife's heart sank as soon as she set eyes on the building , it looked shabby , with the Dart railway line passing immediately adajcent to to building and inside it looked in need of a refurbishment. The toilets were aweful. We eventually decided not to stay , intead opted for Jury's Inn at Customs House Quay. Very little price difference but a world apart in the quality stakes.

Hotel seemed fine, but when I attended a meeting with new clients the morning after my stay, it kept them laughing all day because apparently the hotel has a local reputation for being frequented by ladies of a certain profession. It is handy for the railway station...

This hotel was good because we got a cheap deal and the location was awesome. But you get what you pay for - the room smelt funny and there was lots of noise - builders and whirring etc.

The outside was dirty, the windows looked dingy and overall it looked like a grotty pub. Inside it was better and the room was quite nice and a reasonable size. The location was DIRE, in terms of surroundings and people. I didn't feel safe walking around there at night, and there were pools of vomit on the pavement. To say its anywhere near temple bar is a joke.

don't get put off by the rumbling of trains over reception and the rather dour exterior this hotel has all you need for an affordable stay in Dublin. Staff are friendly. Located next to connolly station it's convenient - you don't have to struggle far with your bags from the bus station. Would definately recommend

Hotel was very very noisy! If you are there for a weekend of drinking you'll be fine but we tried going to bed at 11pm on a Thursday night and were kept up until the early hours with the noise from people in the street enjoying themselves. It was also right next to a train line and there were cargo trains going through the night which were really loud.Really nice hotel - shame about the location but again if you're out drinking you wouldn't notice the noise when you got back in!!!

The only negative is that the hotel is virtually on the train tracks of central station and shakes every time a train passes which is quite often. Great for a cheap, short stay in Dublin.

Location was great and the Hotel was clean and service first class. Having stayed in other hotels this was by far the best for value for money. The Hotel was busy but no wonder at these prices for a City Centre Hotel. Will definately be back. Thanks to LM.com
