Never failing to charm her visitors, Kos is the second largest of the Dodecanese group and lies close to Rhodes. History asserts itself on this picturesque island, from the spreading boughs of the plane tree where Hippocrates, the father of medecine, is said to have tutored his students, to the ruins of medieval defensive castles.

Accommodation description

Lakitira is a lively, family-friendly resort, perfectly positioned on the southern coast of Kos, 25 minutes from the airport. Turkey sits just across the water and the islands of Nissyros and Kalymnos frame stunning views from the beach. Windsurfers and sailors love it here – and with good reason. There’s a great selection of boards and boats and the wind conditions are ideal – calm mornings for beginners followed by force 3-5 afternoon breezes for more expert sailors. Tennis players choose this resort too. Eleven full sized courts provide plenty of opportunity to play, with floodlighting to keep matches going on into the cool of the evening. And for children who are into football, the astroturf pitch and coaching sessions are included in their activity programme.
