The Skylink moving walkway system links Terminals 1, 2 and 3 via the airport railway station.
The airport lies off junction 5 of the M56 motorway, which connects with the M60 (Manchester’s ring road) at junction 4. Directions for all terminals are clearly signposted.
There are some 14,000 parking spaces available at the airport. Short- and long-term parking facilities (tel: (0)161 489 3723) are available. The short-stay multi-storey parking lots are located close to Terminals 1, 2 and 3. Long-term parking is recommended for any stay over 6 hours. Pre-booking, with discounts offered, is available online. A regular courtesy shuttle bus operates from the long-term car parks to all terminals. Companies at the airport include Avis, Budget, Europcar, Hertz, National and Sixt. All have desks in each of the terminals.
Rail: Manchester Airport’s new rail, coach and bus interchange, known as The Station, is connected to all three terminals via the Skylink moving walkway system. Trains operate to Manchester Airport from many stations in northern England and the Midlands. There is a frequent service between the airport and Manchester Piccadilly Station in the city centre, which has connections to most major destinations. Road: Taxi: Taxis are available outside or near the Arrivals hall of each terminal. Bus: The airport’s bus network provides direct services to many local centres, as well as to other towns and cities. Coach: A number of National Express services (tel: (0)870 575 7747; website: www.nationalexpress.com) run from The Station to various destinations throughout the UK.
Tourist information centres are situated in the Arrivals areas of Terminals 1 and 2 (tel: (0)161 436 3344). There are also information desks situated in all terminals. Several members of staff are trained in British Sign Language.
Money and communications: ATMs, bureaux de change, banking facilities, Internet booths and a post office are available. Eating and drinking: All terminals have restaurants, cafés and bars with 24-hour facilities. Shopping: Duty-free shops and a variety of gift shops and concessions are available. Luggage: Left-luggage facilities and lost property offices are available (tel: (0)161 489 3463 for Terminal 1 or (0)161 489 6031 for Terminal 2). Other facilities: These include a medical centre, two prayer rooms, baby changing facilities and a 24-hour children’s play area.
The Airport Business Centre (tel: (0)161 490 5580) offers a wide range of professional business support services, including private workstations with telephone, fax, photocopying and word processing facilities, meeting room hire, Internet access and videoconferencing. The airport also has conference and banqueting facilities in the Atlantic Suite (tel: (0)161 489 6181/2) and Radisson SAS Hotel (tel: (0)161 490 5000), catering for up to 400 people and including a comprehensive range of audiovisual, telephone and fax equipment. The Escape Lounge (tel: (0)161 489 3388) offers passengers a chance to relax and use a variety of business facilities, including fax machines, telephones, Internet access and photocopying; there is a charge for entry to this lounge.
There are accessible toilets, ramps and lifts, hearing loops and wheelchair-accessible telephones throughout the terminals. All telephones are fitted with induction loops. The desk in Terminal 1 International Arrivals is equipped with a Minicom system (tel: (0)161 489 3561). Passengers requiring wheelchairs or special assistance should contact their airline prior to travel. There are parking spaces for disabled travellers (tel: (0)161 489 3723).

An underground walkway connects the Main Terminal with the Satellite Terminal.
The airport is accessible via Attiki Odos, the Athens ring road.
There are spaces for around 4,700 cars at the airport. Short-term car parks P1 and P2 are located just outside the Arrivals halls of the Main Terminal. Long-term car park P3 is connected to the Main Terminal building via a courtesy shuttle bus and by a pedestrian bridge over the main road. Parking is free for 20 minutes in all car parks. Valet parking service is also available (tel: (0)210 353 4260).
Avis, Budget, Europcar, Hertz, National/Alamo and Sixt are all represented. They are located in Arrivals in the Main Terminal.
Rail: A light railway service is planned between the Athens metro and the main railway station to the airport before the 2004 Olympic Games. Road: Taxi: Taxis leave from outside the Arrivals level of the Main Terminal Building. Limousine: Limousines are available on request. Bus: Several bus routes connect the airport with Athens and Piraeus daily 24 hours. Some connect with the metro. Two KTEL express services run between the airport and Markopoulo and Rafina. Coach: KTEL coach services run to Lavrio, Kalyvia and Keratea; coaches depart from the Arrivals level of the Main Terminal, near door 5.
The airport information line operates daily 24 hours (tel: (0)210 353 0000). The Greek National Tourist Organisation (tel: (0)210 327 1000) is located in the Arrivals area of the Main Terminal and can provide information on tourism, hotels, transportation, attractions, airport shopping and conference facilities.
Money and communications: The Main Terminal has banks, bureaux de change, automatic exchange machines and ATMs, as well as a post office. Courtesy telephones are located throughout the airport. Eating and drinking: Most restaurants and bars are located in the Main Terminal. Shopping: Shops, which are concentrated in the Main Terminal, include duty-free. Luggage: Left-luggage (tel: (0)210 353 0352) and a lost property office (tel: (0)210 353 0000) are located in Arrivals in the Main Terminal. A porter service is available 24 hours (tel: (0)210 353 0100). Other facilities: Therese include first aid and baby changing rooms, and a pharmacy.
The IT&T Business Centre (tel: (0)210 353 6416) has offices equipped with desktop PCs, Internet access, telephones, photocopy and fax machines, laser and colour printers, scanners and office supplies; the centre also has one conference room. In addition, there are meeting rooms to hire from the airport facility and administration department (tel: (0)210 353 6318). Conference facilities are also available at the Sofitel Athens Airport Hotel (tel: (0)210 354 4000).
Facilities at the airport include easily accessible and text telephones, disabled toilets, adapted walkways and lifts for visually-impaired travellers, dedicated check-in counters and rest areas, lifts, Braille signage, tactile flooring, and an alarm system to alert visually and hearing-impaired passengers in case of emergency. Electric cars are available to transport disabled passengers between the two terminals, and there are around 90 disabled car parking spaces at the airport. Disabled passengers should inform the airline of any special assistance and needs, prior to travel.
The Sofitel Athens Airport Hotel (tel: (0)210 354 4000) is located close to the Arrivals and Departure halls of the Main Terminal, and the Satellite Terminal.
