What you said

The room itself was fine and the breakfast good value, however, the reception area was very unprofessional- looking. E.g. it smelled of cigarettes and appeared highly disorganised. In addition, the reception staff were not particularly friendly or welcoming. The hotel was cheap but it seemed cheap rather than being good value.

all in pretty good. shower was better than other review sites mention, although they were still not great. Location was good, with a u-bahn station practically on the doorstep and check point charlie on one corner, with the Judisches museum a brisk five minute walk. For the price paid it was very good, though i would be reticent to pay much more.

Fantastic hotel with very pleasant staff. Central location (Checkpoint Charlie on same street and underground station close to hotel) Handy for shops also.

Nice hotel, spacious and quiet. Staff very helpful. The hotel's a bit of a way out along Friedrichstrasse, but Berlin's tube system is so good it doesn't really matter.

This was a great deal. A fantastic hotel, centrally located in Berlin about 2 minutes from Checkpoint Charlie and 10 mins from Potsdamer Platz. Very friendly and helpful staff, very clean. All in all a great place, I would highly recommend staying here!

Ideally situated just a little further down Friedrichstrasse than you might normally go. However the level of accommodation far surpasses the need to go 5 mins out of your way. Next time I'm in Berlin I will definitely use this hotel.
