The Skylink moving walkway system links Terminals 1, 2 and 3 via the airport railway station.
The airport lies off junction 5 of the M56 motorway, which connects with the M60 (Manchester’s ring road) at junction 4. Directions for all terminals are clearly signposted.
There are some 14,000 parking spaces available at the airport. Short- and long-term parking facilities (tel: (0)161 489 3723) are available. The short-stay multi-storey parking lots are located close to Terminals 1, 2 and 3. Long-term parking is recommended for any stay over 6 hours. Pre-booking, with discounts offered, is available online. A regular courtesy shuttle bus operates from the long-term car parks to all terminals. Companies at the airport include Avis, Budget, Europcar, Hertz, National and Sixt. All have desks in each of the terminals.
Rail: Manchester Airport’s new rail, coach and bus interchange, known as The Station, is connected to all three terminals via the Skylink moving walkway system. Trains operate to Manchester Airport from many stations in northern England and the Midlands. There is a frequent service between the airport and Manchester Piccadilly Station in the city centre, which has connections to most major destinations. Road: Taxi: Taxis are available outside or near the Arrivals hall of each terminal. Bus: The airport’s bus network provides direct services to many local centres, as well as to other towns and cities. Coach: A number of National Express services (tel: (0)870 575 7747; website: www.nationalexpress.com) run from The Station to various destinations throughout the UK.
Tourist information centres are situated in the Arrivals areas of Terminals 1 and 2 (tel: (0)161 436 3344). There are also information desks situated in all terminals. Several members of staff are trained in British Sign Language.
Money and communications: ATMs, bureaux de change, banking facilities, Internet booths and a post office are available. Eating and drinking: All terminals have restaurants, cafés and bars with 24-hour facilities. Shopping: Duty-free shops and a variety of gift shops and concessions are available. Luggage: Left-luggage facilities and lost property offices are available (tel: (0)161 489 3463 for Terminal 1 or (0)161 489 6031 for Terminal 2). Other facilities: These include a medical centre, two prayer rooms, baby changing facilities and a 24-hour children’s play area.
The Airport Business Centre (tel: (0)161 490 5580) offers a wide range of professional business support services, including private workstations with telephone, fax, photocopying and word processing facilities, meeting room hire, Internet access and videoconferencing. The airport also has conference and banqueting facilities in the Atlantic Suite (tel: (0)161 489 6181/2) and Radisson SAS Hotel (tel: (0)161 490 5000), catering for up to 400 people and including a comprehensive range of audiovisual, telephone and fax equipment. The Escape Lounge (tel: (0)161 489 3388) offers passengers a chance to relax and use a variety of business facilities, including fax machines, telephones, Internet access and photocopying; there is a charge for entry to this lounge.
There are accessible toilets, ramps and lifts, hearing loops and wheelchair-accessible telephones throughout the terminals. All telephones are fitted with induction loops. The desk in Terminal 1 International Arrivals is equipped with a Minicom system (tel: (0)161 489 3561). Passengers requiring wheelchairs or special assistance should contact their airline prior to travel. There are parking spaces for disabled travellers (tel: (0)161 489 3723).

The Munich Airport Centre (MAC) connects Terminal 1 with Terminal 2.
The airport is located just off the A92 between Munich and Deggendorf and is accessible from four motorway exits. Connect to the A92 from the A99 Munich ring road from southern and eastern destinations. Alternatively, take the smaller Route 388 from Munich towards Erding, and turn off north for the airport just before reaching Erding. Once at the airport, follow the signs to Terminal 1 or 2.
Underground car parks P1, P2, P3, P4 and P9 offer short-term parking facilities (up to one week). Other parking close to the terminals can be found in multi-storey car parks P6, P7, P8, P20, P25 and in the airport hotel underground P26 car park. All underground facilities and multi-storey car parks offer direct access to the airport. Car park P41 at Nordallee offers long-term weekly rates and is served by a free shuttle bus to the airport. Other car parks include the remote parking facilities at car park P51 and the visitors’ car park P53. Car hire companies include Avis, Budget, Europcar, Hertz, National/Alamo and Sixt, with offices located on concourse A of Terminal 1.
Rail: Commuter trains S1 and S8 both depart to various Munich stations, including Munich Hauptbahnhof, Marienplatz, Laim and Ostbahnhof, where rail connections are available to major German cities and European destinations. If delays occur, the bus no.S8 continues to run until after the end of daily airport operations. Road: Taxi: Taxis are available from the airport to the city centre (journey time: 45 minutes). Limousine: Limousine and chauffeur service providers are available at the airport. Bus: Bus and coach services run to Munich and the surrounding areas. Autobus Oberbayern (tel: (0)89 323 040) runs a Lufthansa Airport Bus service to Munich Hauptbahnhof. Buses serve both terminals. During large exhibitions, another shuttle bus service runs to the München Messe exhibition centre. Information and tickets are available from the Service Centre, on level 3 of the MAC area (tel: (0)89 9752 1375).
There is a Central Information Desk on the Level 3 Main Concourse (Central Area), with multi-lingual staff. There are also tourist information desks on Level 4 Arrivals and Departures in Terminal 1. In Terminal 2, the Central Information Desk is located on the Departures level 4 in the central check-in hall; another information stand is located directly in front of Arrivals, on level 3. There are also several Lufthansa Service Desks located throughout Terminal 2.
Money and communications: Facilities include banks, bureaux de change, ATMs and a post office. There is also 24 hour Internet access in the Service Centre Internet Point. Wireless LAN is available throughout the airport. Eating and drinking: There are many bars, restaurants, snack bars and coffee bars. The Terminal 2 gallery is a popular spot for drinking and dining. Shopping: There are duty-free shops and many other shops, including a wide variety of clothing, electronics, accessories and gift shops. Luggage: A left-luggage office is located in the Service Centre, in the MAC area; there is also a lost property office (tel: (0)89 9752 1370). A porter service (tel: (0)89 9759 9795) is available and porters are easily recognised by their green uniforms. Baggage trolleys are available. Other facilities: There is a 24-hour medical emergency centre, a pharmacy, baby changing rooms, a dentist, dry cleaning and laundry service, children’s play areas and showers, as well as over 40 travel agencies and tour operators. The five-star Kempinski Airport Hotel (see Airport Hotels) adjacent to Terminal 2 and the MAC, offers non-guests access to its pool, fitness and spa area for a nominal fee. The hotel also host regular after-work cocktail parties for travellers, airport employees, guests and visitors.
The Munich Airport Centre (MAC) has large presentation and event-hosting facilities. The MAC Forum (tel: (0)89 9753 4331) is used for events and exhibitions, with media and communications technology, technology support and catering. The MAC business service centre, Municon (tel: (0)89 9759 3200), has 35 well-equipped conference rooms, accommodating from four to 120 delegates. Security personnel, VIP service and relaxation rooms with bed and bath are available. Further conference and meeting facilities are available at the on-site Kempinski Airport Hotel (tel: (0)89 97820; website: www.kempinski-airport.de), with 30 venues accommodating up to 400 delegates and a fully equipped business centre. There are six airline lounges and two airport-run lounges, the Atlantik and Europa lounges. Both lounges have telephones, fax and laptop connections, as well as TVs, newspapers and magazines. Charge points for mobile telephone and laptop batteries can be found at the photography centre in the main concourse. A number of business facilities can be found at the Service Centre Internet Point, including fax, photocopying, Internet connection, computer stations, scanning, data storage and printing.
Disabled passengers should inform the airline of any special needs and assistance required, prior to travel. TDD telephones are available in the Level 3 of the main concourse and in the medical centre. Wheelchairs are available free of charge from the information desks in Departures concourse A-D and Z. There are wheelchair-accessible toilets and elevators throughout the airport. Disabled parking is available in all underground and multi-storey car parks. Terminal 2 has tactile systems for visually impaired passengers. Many services, such as accompaniment, arrangement of disabled transport services and wheelchair repairs, are available from the Malteser Service Organization (tel: (0)89 9756 3333); reservations are required.
The Kempinski Airport Hotel (tel: (0)89 97820; website: www.kempinski-airport.de) is located at the airport. A hotel reservation service is available 24 hours at the central information desk on the main concourse. Munich hotels include Arabella Sheraton, Best Western, Marriott, Movenpick Hotel Munich and Quality Hotel Amadeus.
