Driving Directions

The airport is linked to the M23 motorway. Turn off at junction 9 and follow signs for the airport. London Gatwick is also accessible from the A23 London-Brighton Road.

Car Parking

Each terminal has a short-term car park with direct access to the terminals via covered walkways; these are operated by NCP (tel: (0)870 600 7050; website: www.ncp.co.uk). Long-term parking is also available in car parks further from the terminals; a free shuttle bus runs between the car parks and the terminals. Passengers can book at least 96 hours in advance; this can be done through BAA Advance (tel: (0)870 000 1 000; website: www.baa.com). Valet parking is available and operated by NCP. Chauffeured parking is also available from CPS (tel: (0)870 411 1118; website: www.parkwithcps.com). Vehicle transfer between airports, car valeting/servicing and personal chauffeuring can also be arranged through CPS.

Car Hire

Companies include Avis, Europcar, Hertz, National and Thrifty. Offices are located in designated car rental buildings on the Lower Forecourt Road at both terminals.

Public Transport

Rail: The Gatwick Express train (tel: (0)845 850 1530; website: www.gatwickexpress.co.uk) runs to London Victoria Station (journey time: 30 minutes). There is also a Thameslink (tel: (0)20 7620 6333) service, which runs to London King’s Cross (journey time: 50 minutes) as well as other London stations. Information on all national rail travel is available through the 24-hour National Rail enquiries line (tel: (0)845 748 4950; website: www.nationalrail.co.uk). Road: Limousine: Chauffeur-driven cars are provided by Checker Cars (tel: (0)800 747 737). Coach: There are more than 400 express coach service operating daily from the coach stations at both terminals. The main coach station is located on the ground floor of the South Terminal, with most services operating from here. Principal routes also stop at the North Terminal station. National Express (tel: (0) 870 575 7747; website: www.nationalexpress.com) operate most of the services. National Express no.700 coaches operate to Heathrow Airport, from both terminals. The National Express Shuttle no.025 runs to London Victoria Station. The Gatwick Flyer (tel: (0)1708 730 555) runs to destinations east of London, and coaches operate from the South Terminal station only. There are coach information and ticket desks located in the Arrivals concourse of both terminals. Information on travel to/from the airport is available thought the Airport Travel Line (tel: (0)8705 747 777).

Each Arrivals concourse has an information desk (tel: (0)870 000 2468) where multi-lingual staff are on hand to deal with enquiries 24 hours a day.

Airport Facilities

Money and communications: Both terminals have bureaux de change and ATMs. There is a post office and a 24-hour Internet café in the South Terminal. Wireless Internet connection is also available in the North Terminal. Eating and drinking: There are many restaurants, bars and cafés located in both terminals. Shopping: There are many shops at the airport, including several duty-free outlets. The airport has also recently introduced a home delivery service and a collection service. More information is available from the BAA Shopping Information Line (tel: (0)800 844 844). Luggage: Left-luggage facilities are available in both terminals. A lost property service is also operated by the Excess Baggage Company (tel: (0)1293 503 162). Other facilities: These include baby changing rooms and showers, a children’s play area, a medical centre offering vaccinations (tel: (0)1293 507 400) and prayer rooms.

Conference and Business Facilities

There are business facilities, including telephone, fax, photocopy and secretarial services and conference and meeting rooms, at London Gatwick Hilton Hotel (tel: (0)1293 518 080) at the South Terminal and Le Meridien London Gatwick Hotel (tel: (0)1293 567 070) at the North Terminal. There is one executive lounge in the South Terminal, the Servisair Lounge (tel: (0)870 787 6877), and one in the North Terminal, the Aviance Alexandra Suite (tel: (0)1293 507 203).

Disabled Facilities

Special assistance is available for disabled passengers. There are ramps and/or lifts where necessary. Wheelchair push and provision and help with baggage are also provided on request. Reserved seating is located throughout the airport, and there is also designated parking for badge holders. There is an induction loop installed in the terminals, as well as disabled toilets. Passengers requiring assistance should inform the relevant airline before travelling. Travel-Care (tel: (0)1293 504 283) provides advice to anyone who needs assistance and is located in The Village, in the South Terminal.

Airport hotels include the London Gatwick Hilton Hotel (tel: (0)1293 518 080) at the South Terminal, and Le Meridien London Gatwick Hotel (tel: (0)1293 567 070 or (0)870 400 8494) at the North Terminal. The Travel Inn (tel: (0)870 238 3305) is situated a five-minute walk away from the North Terminal. Other nearby hotels include the Gatwick Moat House, Ramada Plaza Gatwick, Holiday Inn Gatwick, Renaissance Gatwick, Gatwick Belmont and Holidan Inn Express. Transfer between Terminals

The Munich Airport Centre (MAC) connects Terminal 1 with Terminal 2.

Driving Directions

The airport is located just off the A92 between Munich and Deggendorf and is accessible from four motorway exits. Connect to the A92 from the A99 Munich ring road from southern and eastern destinations. Alternatively, take the smaller Route 388 from Munich towards Erding, and turn off north for the airport just before reaching Erding. Once at the airport, follow the signs to Terminal 1 or 2.

Car Parking

Underground car parks P1, P2, P3, P4 and P9 offer short-term parking facilities (up to one week). Other parking close to the terminals can be found in multi-storey car parks P6, P7, P8, P20, P25 and in the airport hotel underground P26 car park. All underground facilities and multi-storey car parks offer direct access to the airport. Car park P41 at Nordallee offers long-term weekly rates and is served by a free shuttle bus to the airport. Other car parks include the remote parking facilities at car park P51 and the visitors’ car park P53. Car Hire

Car hire companies include Avis, Budget, Europcar, Hertz, National/Alamo and Sixt, with offices located on concourse A of Terminal 1.

Public Transport

Rail: Commuter trains S1 and S8 both depart to various Munich stations, including Munich Hauptbahnhof, Marienplatz, Laim and Ostbahnhof, where rail connections are available to major German cities and European destinations. If delays occur, the bus no.S8 continues to run until after the end of daily airport operations. Information is available from the Munich public transport authority, MVV (tel: (0)89 4142 4344; website: www.mvv-muenchen.de) and the German Railway, DB (tel: (0)1805 996 633; website: www.bahn.de). Road: Taxi: Taxis are available from the airport to the city centre (journey time: 45 minutes). Limousine: Limousine and chauffeur service providers are available at the airport. Bus: Bus and coach services run to Munich and the surrounding areas. Autobus Oberbayern (tel: (0)89 323 040) runs a Lufthansa Airport Bus service to Munich Hauptbahnhof. Buses serve both terminals. During large exhibitions, another shuttle bus service runs to the München Messe exhibition centre. Information and tickets are available from the Service Centre, on level 3 of the MAC area (tel: (0)89 9752 1375).

Information and Help Desks

There is a Central Information Desk on the Level 3 Main Concourse (Central Area), with multi-lingual staff. There are also tourist information desks on Level 4 Arrivals and Departures in Terminal 1. In Terminal 2, the Central Information Desk is located on the Departures level 4 in the central check-in hall; another information stand is located directly in front of Arrivals, on level 3. There are also several Lufthansa Service Desks located throughout Terminal 2.

Airport Facilities

Money and communications: Facilities include banks, bureaux de change, ATMs and a post office. There is also 24 hour Internet access in the Service Centre Internet Point. Wireless LAN is available throughout the airport. Eating and drinking: There are many bars, restaurants, snack bars and coffee bars. The Terminal 2 gallery is a popular spot for drinking and dining. Shopping: There are duty-free shops and many other shops, including a wide variety of clothing, electronics, accessories and gift shops. Luggage: A left-luggage office is located in the Service Centre, in the MAC area; there is also a lost property office (tel: (0)89 9752 1370). A porter service (tel: (0)89 9759 9795) is available and porters are easily recognised by their green uniforms. Baggage trolleys are available. Other facilities: There is a 24-hour medical emergency centre, a pharmacy, baby changing rooms, a dentist, dry cleaning and laundry service, children’s play areas and showers, as well as over 40 travel agencies and tour operators. The five-star Kempinski Airport Hotel (see Airport Hotels) adjacent to Terminal 2 and the MAC, offers non-guests access to its pool, fitness and spa area for a nominal fee. The hotel also host regular after-work cocktail parties for travellers, airport employees, guests and visitors.

Conference and Business Facilities

The Munich Airport Centre (MAC) has large presentation and event-hosting facilities. The MAC Forum (tel: (0)89 9753 4331) is used for events and exhibitions, with media and communications technology, technology support and catering. The MAC business service centre, Municon (tel: (0)89 9759 3200), has 35 well-equipped conference rooms, accommodating from four to 120 delegates. Security personnel, VIP service and relaxation rooms with bed and bath are available. Further conference and meeting facilities are available at the on-site Kempinski Airport Hotel (tel: (0)89 97820; website: www.kempinski-airport.de), with 30 venues accommodating up to 400 delegates and a fully equipped business centre. There are six airline lounges and two airport-run lounges, the Atlantik and Europa lounges. Both lounges have telephones, fax and laptop connections, as well as TVs, newspapers and magazines. Charge points for mobile telephone and laptop batteries can be found at the photography centre in the main concourse. A number of business facilities can be found at the Service Centre Internet Point, including fax, photocopying, Internet connection, computer stations, scanning, data storage and printing.

Disabled Facilities

Disabled passengers should inform the airline of any special needs and assistance required, prior to travel. TDD telephones are available in the Level 3 of the main concourse and in the medical centre. Wheelchairs are available free of charge from the information desks in Departures concourse A-D and Z. There are wheelchair-accessible toilets and elevators throughout the airport. Disabled parking is available in all underground and multi-storey car parks. Terminal 2 has tactile systems for visually impaired passengers. Many services, such as accompaniment, arrangement of disabled transport services and wheelchair repairs, are available from the Malteser Service Organization (tel: (0)89 9756 3333); reservations are required.

A hotel reservation service is available 24 hours at the central information desk on the main concourse.
