Description

Venue: Musée des Arts Asiatiques    When: Daily; not Tue

Situated in the middle of Nice's Parc Phoenix, the Museum of Asiatic Arts is home to a superb collection of art from China, Japan, India, Cambodia and other Asian nations.

The museum is organised either by theme or geographical area, all geared towards the same aim - a depiction of the fundamental aesthetic and philosophical traits of Asian civilisations. The building is worth a visit in itself. Designed by the Japanese artist Kenzo Tange, it is a beautiful combination of white marble, glass and steel.

With new exhibits such as the 11th-century Dancing Ganesh from East India and the Chadar from 17th-century India joining established displays such as the 6th-century Standing Buddha, the museum has further enhanced its reputation. This is one of the finest Asian museums on the French Riviera and a true place of interest.
