Quietly situated at the foot of the glorious Three Valleys, the worlds biggest ski area, Brides remains the characterful spa town of yesteryear. Nowadays, the resort is a little-known gateway to the immense ski delights of Meribel, Courchevel and Val Thorens. As such, it represents an attractive budget base for the more economically minded skier. But the resort itself is below the snow line, so skiers start by taking the main gondola straight up into Méribel.
The town retains its wealth of charming and sedate old French hotels. The main street has a modest quota of shops and cafes, but Brides real working life is still wonderfully clear. Eating out is catered for by only a handful of basic restaurants and cafes. Health-seekers can enjoy the treatments of a fully functional spa.
