Description
Venue: Parking des Platanes When: Daily; Fri only
Carpentras has been a market town since the Romans titled the town Forum Neronis when it became an economic crossroads. This weekly market of fruit, vegetables, cheeses and local specialities sees the tradition continue unbroken.
In summer the strawberries, melons and grapes which Carpentras produces are in high season. Carpentras is also surrounded by the Côtes du Ventoux wineries, so a visit to the market will turn up some viticultural bargains too.
All year round you can also find the famous Berlingots de Carpentras, a crystallized fruit speciality prepared according to traditional, hand-made methods.
