The Saint-Seurin Basilica is one of the most interesting historical and religious sites in Bordeaux, with architectural designs dating from the Merovingian era up until the 14th century.
The Notre-Dame de la Rose chapel, situated at the far end of the basilica, dates back to 1444. An 11th-century historic crypt holds the tomb of Saint-Fort and two sarcophagi from the Merovingian era. The archaeological crypt shelters an early Christian necropolis (mausoleums, sarcophagus and frescos). Finally, to conclude the tour, the west porch is decorated with 12th-century columns.
