The Musée d'Aquitaine is one of Bordeaux's better museums. This well-organised home of historical knick-knacks is housed in the attractive 19th-century Faculty of Arts and Sciences, a short walk from the pretty Tour Pey-Berland.
The museum showcases the most important influences of the region's development - maritime, commercial and agricultural, and not forgetting a good section on the wine trade that put the city on the map. The collection also features Egyptian, Mediterranean, Oceanian, African and Eskimo art and artefacts.
