Located right at the top of Lapland, just 2 hours from the Arctic Ocean, Saariselkä first came to prominence as a settlement for Gold Panners. The scenery is stunning with the Arctic wilderness just on the doorstep, the skies often a deep hue of pink and purple the pines and spruce trees heavy laden with snow. Being so far north, there is a high probability of seeing the Northern lights. Saariselkä is deep in Saami country, the native people of Lapland, many of whom work in the resort and have their own reindeer herds in forests nearby. Saariselkä is a great choice for an all-round winter holiday with a chance of seeing Santa, of course.

The attractions in the area are the lively apres ski. The famous Gold Panners bar, Panimo, also Guksi Pub, and good choice of restaurants in Tunturi hotel and Panorama restaurant Huippu. Swimming pool and Spa (at Holiday Club). Many excursions to choose from: Husky safaris Reindeer Sleigh rides, Snowmobiling safaris, Ice driving training, excursion to the Gold Panning area on the River Ivalo at Tankavaara, excursion to the Arctic Ocean and Siida Saami museum in Inari.

• A wide range of excursions including a visit to meet Santa, husky/reindeer safaris, snow mobiling, gold panning etc can be booked upon arrival through the tour operator’s representative.

• Baggage allowance is 20kgs. There is an additional charge of £15 per pair for the carriage of skis.
• Ski carriage must be pre-booked and there is a charge of £15 per pair return. If for any reason your skis cannot be carried, the tour operator undertakes to transport your skis on the next available flight and deliver them to your accommodation. To book ski carriages please enter the number of pairs you will be taking under extras at the end of your online booking. The charge will be added to your invoice.
• If you have any special requests (vegetarian meals etc.) Please enter them under special requirements when making your online booking. Special requests will be noted but cannot be guaranteed.
• There is a 2.25% charge when payment is made by credit (not debit) Card.

Ticketing information

• The tour operator will send you their confirmation/invoice by post the next working day after your booking is received.
• The operator will not telephone you unless you are travelling within the next 10 days.
• Tickets will be dispatched 14 days before departure.
