According to legend, it was on the Paphos shoreline that Aphrodite, Goddess of love, arose from the crashing waves and the rock marking her birthplace became a place of pilgrimage for centuries. As a magnet for sightseers and beach-lovers alike, it is no mystery why this resort in west Cyprus remains so popular.
