Description

Venue: Belgian Centre of Comic Strip Art    When: Daily; not Mon

The Belgian Centre of Comic Strip Art is dedicated to the nation's great love of the cartoon, and celebrates artists such as Georges Remi, otherwise known as Herge, the creator of one of the most famous comic book series - Tintin.

The museum exhibits comic strip art from the very beginning of its creation, in the Birth of Comics section, to new creations by young talent, in the Modern Comics section. The main exhibition shows original artwork of Belgian classics by artists such as Herge, Willy Vandersteen, creator of Willy and Wanda, Jean Roba, creator of Ballie and Billie, not to mention Peyo's Smurfs. All in all, the museum contains around 400 original Tintin plates and some 25,000 other works.

There is one more reason to visit the museum - it is situated in the Waucquez Warehouses, a spectacular building designed by the famous Art Nouveau architect, Victor Horta.
