What you said
I am in Brussels a good six to eight days a month for work and the Silken is normally my hotel of choice. This time I tried booking on Lastminute rather than through the Silken hotels website, which is how we normally make reservations. As I normally do I check into the hotel after I finish work for the day - around 7pm. I did exactly the same on Tuesday night, 30 January. When I arrived the woman who checked me in was rude and very unhelpful - the first time I have experienced this at the hotel. My room was in the old part of the hotel, which is generally not as nice as the newer side. I had a large suitcase with me as well as a few other bags filled with work papers and my laptop. No one offered to help me to the room which was a good five minute walk from reception - in addition, I had to walk through a crowded room of people to even get to the lift as they were having a cocktail party for Euronews - this wasn't mentioned to me either. En route I dropped one of my bags as I walked through the crowded room as well as running over many people's feet with my suitcase. When I arrived in my room, it was small, had a single bed and was right next to the lift. I complained to front desk that the room was noisy and given how many times in a month I stay at the hotel, I would appreciate it if they would put me in a better room. In response to being a regular user of the hotel, I was told "You and everyone else, there's nothing I can do." I was told the hotel was full and all that was available were smoking rooms and suites (at a substantial extra charge). I was a bit surprised that they didn't voluntarily offer to put me in a suite - but they didn't. So I stayed in the room for the night and got very little sleep because I kept hearing the lift going up and down all night. The next morning I complained and I was moved to a new room - but the service I received upon checking in was truly horrible and the Silken needs to have better treatment of its customers - especially ones who stay there often.
