The airport is located just north of the M8 motorway at junction 28.
Car Parking
Short-stay, long-stay and business parking are all available, operated by NCP (tel: (0)870 606 7050; website: www.ncp.co.uk). The short-stay car parks are all within walking distance of the terminals, and there are regular transfer coaches to the terminal from the long-stay car park. Long-stay parking with discounts can be pre-booked through BAA Advance (tel: (0)870 000 1000) or online via the airport’s website.
Car Hire
Alamo, Avis, Europcar, Hertz and National have desks next to Domestic Arrivals .
Public Transport
Rail: The Gilmour Street railway station in Paisley is 3km (2 miles) from the airport and is only a few minutes away by taxi or local bus. Trains run to Glasgow Central rail station. Transfers to either Queen Street station or Buchanan bus station are available on bus no.398. For more information, contact the 24-hour National Rail enquiries line (tel: (0)870 748 4950; website: www.nationalrail.co.uk). Road: Taxi: Metered taxis are available 24 hours a day. Bus: Bus no.905 runs to central Glasgow, stopping at Glasgow Central station, Queen Street station and Buchanan bus station. Buses are also available to other destinations. Information and Help Desks
The airport information desk is on the first floor, next to the Domestic Arrivals/Departures area. There are computer information kiosks on the ground floor and a Greater Glasgow and Clyde Valley Tourist Board (tel: (0)141 848 4400 or 4758) in International Arrivals, providing tourist and accommodation information.
Airport Facilities
Money and communications: The airport has bureaux de change, ATMs, a post office and telephones equipped with fax and e-mail facilities. Eating and drinking: Restaurants, cafés and bars are concentrated on the first floor. Shopping: Shopping includes duty-free. For more information, contact the Shopping Information Line (tel: (0)870 000 1000). Luggage: The left-luggage facility (tel: (0)141 848 4938) is open daily 24 hours. A lost property service (tel: (0)141 848 4740) is also available. Uniformed members of staff are on hand to assist with baggage. Other facilities: These include a pharmacy, baby care facilities and children’s play areas.
Conference and Business Facilities
A business workstation with telephone, fax and Internet facilities is available on the first floor concourse. The Glasgow Airport Business Centre (tel: (0)141 847 5450) offers meeting rooms, conference and training facilities, an IT suite and full secretarial support. There is a Servisair Executive Lounge, with credit-card operated telephones and fax facilities. Conference facilities for up to 35 delegates are available at the Travel Inn (tel: (0)141 842 1563).
Disabled Facilities
Facilities include wheelchair-accessible toilets, ramps, lifts and reserved seating, as well as induction loops, a TDD telephone and a Minicom information line (tel: (0)141 848 4848). Passengers should advise their airline in advance of any special needs. Disabled parking spaces are available. Airport News
Expansion of the International Terminal and a revamp of the Domestic Terminal, which will focus on integration with the International Terminal (with convenient connections to facilities) are underway. The project is slated for completion in 2008.
Transfer between Terminals
There is internal access between the Domestic and International terminals, and there are domestic transfer check-in counters in the International Arrivals hall.
Driving Directions
From the centre of Christchurch (Cathedral Square), take Columbo Street, and from there Bealey Street and Harper Avenue. Turn right onto Fendalton Avenue and continue to Hagley Park, turning into Memorial Avenue. The airport is located over the roundabout on Memorial Avenue.
Car Parking
Short- and long-term car parking spaces are located immediately in front of the terminal building, from where hire cars can also be collected.
Car Hire
Car hire companies are located in the International and Domestic Terminals. Avis, Budget, Hertz, Maui Rentals and Thrifty are all represented, although Thrifty is located in the Domestic Terminal only.
Public Transport
Road: Taxi: Taxis are available to the city centre (journey time: 15-20 minutes). Bus: A public bus service runs to the city centre (journey time: 30-40 minutes); shuttle buses can be shared and take travellers to their accommodation. Transport to Christchurch city centre is available outside the Domestic and International areas of the terminal building.
Information and Help Desks
Travel and information centres are located in the Domestic Terminal and International Arrivals lounge. In addition to providing information and bookings for local accommodation, transport and sightseeing tours, the staff operate a full travel agency service and can cater for any further international or domestic travel and holiday arrangements. Postal services are available at the travel and information centres in both terminals. Telephones are situated throughout in both terminals. Shopping: Shops, including duty-free, are located in International Arrivals (before customs), the International Departures lounge and the gallery boutiques on the first floor (passengers only); there are also shops in the Domestic Terminal. Luggage: A left-luggage service is available at the travel and information centres in the Domestic Terminal, and on the ground floor of the International Terminal (tel: (0)3 353 1985). Trolleys are available in both terminals. Other facilities: There is a hairdresser, florist and a pharmacy in the Domestic Terminal. There are children’s play areas on the first floor and in the Domestic Terminal. The visitor centre of New Zealand’s International Antarctic Centre is a five -minute walk from the terminal buildings.
Conference and Business Facilities
The travel and information centres can provide fax, photocopying and postal facilities, as well as baggage storage. Conference and business facilities are also available within the airport complex at the International Antarctic Visitors Centre and the Sudima Hotel Grand Chancellor (tel: (0)3 358 3139; fax: (0)3 358 3029). Airline lounges are situated on the first floor of both terminals.
Disabled Facilities
Facilities for travellers with special needs include lifts, automatic doors, wheelchair access, accessible toilets and showers, ATM machines with Braille keys and dedicated parking spaces at the front of the public car-parking area. Passengers requiring wheelchairs and special assistance should inform their airline prior to travel.

The Copthorne Hotel Commodore (tel: (0)3 962 9850) and the Russley Hotel and Villas (tel: (0)3 358 6500; website: www.russleyhotel.co.nz) are located a few minutes’ drive from the airport. Staff at the airport travel and information centre can provide assistance with bookings and offer recommendations to suit travellers’ needs and budget.
