Rainbow's End prides itself on being "New Zealand's largest and friendliest Theme Park". This huge family attraction was built in 1982 and features all the thrilling rides that you would expect.
The hair-raising highlights of the park include The Enchanted Forest Log Flume, which transports visitors on a magical ride through a waterfall and deep into the heart of a mountain before the inevitable concluding plunge. The Coca Cola Roller Coaster is New Zealand's only corkscrew coaster and takes you on a 90-foot ascent before plummeting towards the ground at teeth-rattling speed into a double corkscrew loop. Gold Rush is an exciting roller coaster-like ride where visitors must watch out for falling beams, cave-ins, explosions and out-of-control mine karts whilst twisting and turning their way through an abandoned goldmine.
After the thrills and spills of the rides, a well-earned break can be provided at Cinema 180, which is the only one of its kind in New Zealand. The C180 theatre features 70mm movies projected onto a curved screen, creating the illusion that you are really there amongst the action.
For the under 10s, Dream Castle provides plenty of magical merriment with a dragon mini-coaster, bouncy castle, traditional carousel and the car wash convoy.
With classic favourites such as the Pirate Ship, Bumper Boats and Dodgems, Rainbow's End provides endless excitement for all the family.
