Not certain whether to be a bar or a club, St Petersburg's Fish Fabrique combines the best of both worlds. The live music is good, the atmosphere infectious, especially at the weekends, with a cheap bar that is sometimes manned by local rock star volunteers!

Situated in the alternative art centre Pushkinskaya 10, Fish Fabrique attracts more than its fair share of artists, who have been known to contribute to the funky murals in the main room and toilets. It is often at its best when the band have finished (after midnight) and the crowds have thinned out enough to allow conversation, dancing and round-robin table football tournaments.
