  • Jantar Mantar
    Commissioned by Emperor Muhammad Shah to correct the existing astronomical tables and fix planetary positions anew, Sawai Jai Singh II built the first stone observatory in Delhi in 1724 and Jaipur's Jantar Mantar in 1728.
  • Nahargarh Fort
    The Nahargarh Fort (or Tiger Fort) was built by Sawai Raja Jai Singh in 1734 and was strategically important as a defence of Amer. New additions were made in the 19th century by Sawai Ram Singh II and Sawai Madho Singh II.
  • Old City
    The walled old city of Jaipur is enclosed within seven gates, the most important of which are Chandpol, Jaipuri and Sanganeri. It houses all the famous sights of the "Pink City", as well as Jaipur's bazaars.
  • Hawa Mahal
    Built in 1799 by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh, the Hawa Mahal or Palace of the Wind is one of Jaipur's major landmarks. It is an integral part of the City Palace, an extension of the Zenana (women's chambers) standing away from the main complex.

    The City Palace is an imposing blend of traditional Rajasthan and Mughal architecture, occupying one-seventh of the walled city of Jaipur.
