- Beihai Park
Beihai Park, situated just west of the northern gate of the Forbidden City, is an imperial garden dating back more than 1000 years. The building at the centre is a former palace of a number of successive dynasties, which used to be called the Winter Palace by westerners. - Shanghai Zoological Park
Formerly known as Western Suburb Park, the Shanghai Zoological Park contains roughly 3000 creatures of more than 500 different species. Add that to the 65,000 specimens of 385 different species of plant and you're looking at an extremely impressive collection of wildlife. - Great Wall of China
The largest man-made construction ever built, the ancient majesty of the Great Wall of China can be spotted by anyone who happens to be journeying through space, although not, as is commonly believed, from the moon (Armstrong did try). - Forbidden City (Palace Museum)
So called because the Ming and Qing dynasty emperors kept this pleasure dome off limits for 500 years, the Forbidden City or Imperial Palace is a massive network of restored buildings containing a stately 9999.5 rooms (the half-a-room contains a stairway, and the room count couldn't go any higher, as 10,000 rooms would make it like heaven). Now Beijing's Palace Museum, it is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. - Tiantan - The Temple of Heaven
China's largest temple, the Temple of Heaven is an amazing complex of interconnected buildings enclosed by a gargantuan circular wall and a 273-hectare park in the Chongwen District, south of the Forbidden City and Tian'anmen Square.
