For a brief introduction to China or for those with limited time, our China Experience tour is an ideal initiation to a country that offers a unique combination of old and new treasures. Experience such iconic locations as the cosmopolitan city of Shanghai, the Terracotta Warriors in Xian as well as the Great Wall and Forbidden City in the Olympic city of Beijing. We also have time to explore the charming, ancient canal town of Wuzhen.

Itinerary

  • Days 1-3: UK – Shanghai – Wuzhen - Shanghai

    Fly to Shanghai with British Airways, where we will enjoy a sumptuous welcoming dinner. The next day we take an enjoyable excursion to Wuzhen, a traditional town, home to an intricate system of canals and ancient architecture that combines with an abundance of local handicrafts.

  • Day 4: Shanghai

    We have a full day to enjoy Shanghai, the city often referred to as the ‘Paris of the East’. In the morning we will visit the beautiful Yu Gardens and the Old Town. After lunch it is the Shanghai Museum and the famous Bund, which offers an exhibition of grand architecture dating back to the early 1900’s. A look at the restored Xintiandi area of the city is next, before enjoying some shopping along renowned Nanjing Road. We finish off with a stunning evening cruise on the Huangpu River, where the Colonial Bund and the futuristic Pudong come face to face.

  • Days 5-6: Xian

    Fly to the former Imperial Capital of Xian, where we will relax and experience a traditional Shui Jiao meal in the evening. The following morning we visit one of the most important archaeological discoveries of the 20th Century, the spectacular Terracotta Warriors, followed by the ancient City Wall, one of the best preserved in all of China. We will then stroll through the city’s Muslim Quarter to explore the Markets and the Great Mosque. A Tang Dynasty dancing performance will conclude the evening.

  • Days 9-11: Yangtze River Cruise

    End your stay in Xian with a visit to the Little Wild Goose Pagoda before flying to Wuhan. Transfer by coach (6 hours approximately) to board our Yangtze River Cruise vessel. Marvel at the magnificent Three Gorges Dam and cruise through some of the most beautiful scenery in the world. We take some shore excursions to visit the captivating temples and statues of the ‘Ghost City’ in Fengdu. You will also have the unique opportunity to cruise up the Shennong Stream in a ‘pea pod’ boat.

  • Day 7: Xian - Beijing

    We visit the Little Wild Goose Pagoda and the Shaanxi Museum, where thousands of priceless relics are housed, before flying to Beijing. Here we will view the unique Temple of Heaven and enjoy a traditional meal, which will inevitably include the local delicacy ‘Peking Duck’.

  • Days 8-9: Beijing

    Sightseeing today includes a visit to the Forbidden City, the largest and best preserved collection of ancient buildings in China, a stroll through Tiananmen Square, the world’s largest public square and Chairman Mao’s Mausoleum if time permits. In the evening a Chinese Acrobatic show will be our entertainment. Next day we walk the Great Wall, which stretches for some 6,350 kilometres and was first built in the 7th Century B.C., followed by a visit to the exquisite Summer Palace.

  • Day 10: Beijing - UK

    Board our return flight to the UK arriving home the same day. A brief visit, but one filled with many happy memories.
