The Skylink moving walkway system links Terminals 1, 2 and 3 via the airport railway station.
The airport lies off junction 5 of the M56 motorway, which connects with the M60 (Manchester’s ring road) at junction 4. Directions for all terminals are clearly signposted.
There are some 14,000 parking spaces available at the airport. Short- and long-term parking facilities (tel: (0)161 489 3723) are available. The short-stay multi-storey parking lots are located close to Terminals 1, 2 and 3. Long-term parking is recommended for any stay over 6 hours. Pre-booking, with discounts offered, is available online. A regular courtesy shuttle bus operates from the long-term car parks to all terminals. Companies at the airport include Avis, Budget, Europcar, Hertz, National and Sixt. All have desks in each of the terminals.
Rail: Manchester Airport’s new rail, coach and bus interchange, known as The Station, is connected to all three terminals via the Skylink moving walkway system. Trains operate to Manchester Airport from many stations in northern England and the Midlands. There is a frequent service between the airport and Manchester Piccadilly Station in the city centre, which has connections to most major destinations. Road: Taxi: Taxis are available outside or near the Arrivals hall of each terminal. Bus: The airport’s bus network provides direct services to many local centres, as well as to other towns and cities. Coach: A number of National Express services (tel: (0)870 575 7747; website: www.nationalexpress.com) run from The Station to various destinations throughout the UK.
Tourist information centres are situated in the Arrivals areas of Terminals 1 and 2 (tel: (0)161 436 3344). There are also information desks situated in all terminals. Several members of staff are trained in British Sign Language.
Money and communications: ATMs, bureaux de change, banking facilities, Internet booths and a post office are available. Eating and drinking: All terminals have restaurants, cafés and bars with 24-hour facilities. Shopping: Duty-free shops and a variety of gift shops and concessions are available. Luggage: Left-luggage facilities and lost property offices are available (tel: (0)161 489 3463 for Terminal 1 or (0)161 489 6031 for Terminal 2). Other facilities: These include a medical centre, two prayer rooms, baby changing facilities and a 24-hour children’s play area.
The Airport Business Centre (tel: (0)161 490 5580) offers a wide range of professional business support services, including private workstations with telephone, fax, photocopying and word processing facilities, meeting room hire, Internet access and videoconferencing. The airport also has conference and banqueting facilities in the Atlantic Suite (tel: (0)161 489 6181/2) and Radisson SAS Hotel (tel: (0)161 490 5000), catering for up to 400 people and including a comprehensive range of audiovisual, telephone and fax equipment. The Escape Lounge (tel: (0)161 489 3388) offers passengers a chance to relax and use a variety of business facilities, including fax machines, telephones, Internet access and photocopying; there is a charge for entry to this lounge.
There are accessible toilets, ramps and lifts, hearing loops and wheelchair-accessible telephones throughout the terminals. All telephones are fitted with induction loops. The desk in Terminal 1 International Arrivals is equipped with a Minicom system (tel: (0)161 489 3561). Passengers requiring wheelchairs or special assistance should contact their airline prior to travel. There are parking spaces for disabled travellers (tel: (0)161 489 3723).

A free shuttle bus operates between all terminals and the furthest car parks.
From Johannesburg, take the R24 to the airport; from Pretoria, take the R21. The airport is clearly signposted from these approach roads.
There are several car parks offering short- and long-term parking, including an underground facility, as well as outdoor and shaded parking. A free shuttle bus service operates between the furthest car parks and the terminals. Call the ACSA office, open daily 24 hours (tel: (0)11 921 6090/1) for further parking information.
Companies Avis, Budget, Europcar, Hertz, Imperial, Khaya, National, Siswe and Tempest are located in Domestic Arrivals.
Road: A variety of approved taxi and shuttle operators provide services between Johannesburg, Pretoria and their surrounding suburbs. The service is managed by Izinga Transport Management (Itram); Itram reservations desks are located in the baggage reclaim areas in Terminals A and B (website: www.itram.co.za). Taxi and shuttle ranks are located opposite the Terminal A International Arrivals, while buses and coaches depart from the multi-storey car park.
Airport information desks are located in International Arrivals and Departures, and Domestic Arrivals. Information and flight details are available via the airport helpdesk (tel: (0)11 921 6262). The Gauteng Tourism Authority Information Desk is situated in the International Arrivals Terminal (tel: (0)11 390 3614 or 3602).

Eating and drinking: There are plenty of places to eat and drink. Food outlets include coffee shops, a juice bar, steak houses, a bakery, and fast-food restaurants. Shopping: The airport has a wide variety of shops, including a duty-free mall. Luggage: A left-luggage facility is available on the upper level of the underground car park, just off the International Arrivals area. Porters are available in the Arrivals hall and can be recognised by bright orange uniforms; visitors should not use unauthorised porters; tipping is recommended. Other facilities: There is a 24-hour medical clinic, a chapel, an Islamic prayer room and baby change facilities.
There is a Business Centre (tel: (0)11 921 6991) with facilities including fax, telephone and secretarial services. A Premier Conference Centre (tel: (0)11 390 1084 or 1118), in the Domestic Terminal, offers four meeting rooms seating up to 14 delegates, a seminar facility for up to 50 delegates and a conference room for up to 120 delegates. A media conference room is also available.
The airport has lifts (two of them are equipped with Braille) and ramps throughout the terminals. Disabled parking spaces are available. The free shuttle service which serves the remote car parking area can accommodate passengers in wheelchairs. Disabled passengers without a disabled pass should contact the ACSA-JIA help desk (tel: (0)11 921 6262) for assistance. A golf cart service which can accommodate disabled passengers operates between the terminals and the car hire areas.
There is a small Transit Hotel at the airport. The Holiday Inn Johannesburg International Airport (tel: (0)11 975 1121) is within walking distance of the terminal and the five-star Airport Sun InterContinental Hotel (tel: (0)11 9615400) is situated opposite the airport. The Holiday Inn Garden Court (tel: 392 1062) is also nearby. There are also budget establishments located nearby; information on accommodation is available at the Gauteng Tourism Authority Information Desk in International Arrivals. Most hotels operate shuttle services to/from the airport.
