Watamu is located on the southern coast of Kenya. The main attraction here is the Watamu Marine National Park where there is a spectacular shallow coral reef teeming with brightly coloured tropical fish. There are opportunities to get an up-close view, as many of the hotels offer diving and snorkeling facilities. The beach, backed by coconut palms, has perfect powdery white sand and all the usual water sports on offer (not available from June to August). There are dozens of stalls, a market for shopping, a few local restaurants and a handful of lively discos and bars in the village. (The transfer time to Mombassa airport is approximately 2 hours.)
